Lucy Annang Ingram, PhD, MPH

Dr. Lucy Annang Ingram joined as a Board Member in 2026.  

Lucy currently serves as Department Head and Endowed Professor of Human Health in the Department of Health Promotion & Behavior in the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia. A nationally recognized public health scholar and academic leader, she brings extensive experience advancing research, teaching, and academic administration, with a strong commitment to health equity and community-engaged practice. She has developed and implemented training programs to advance scholarship in aging, diversity, and maternal and child health, and teaches courses on social justice, sexual and reproductive health, and health promotion. Her work emphasizes community-engaged approaches and the development of sustainable research infrastructure, particularly in under-resourced communities.  

Lucy is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and regularly contributes to national conversations on health equity, leadership development, and public health promotion. She has served as principal investigator or co-investigator on numerous federally funded projects supported by the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Health Resources and Services Administration, and other national and state agencies. Her work positions her as a trusted mentor, teacher, and researcher in the areas of diversity, aging, and maternal health, with a focus on translating research into programs that promote optimal health and train the next generation of public health leaders.  

Lucy earned her PhD in health education and health promotion and her MPH in health behavior from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Emory University.  Originally from Chicago, Lucy currently lives in Georgia and spends her weekends cheering her children on at their athletic events across the state.

Betsy Collins, MD, MPH

Dr. Betsy Collins joined as a Board Member in 2024.

Betsy is an Assistant Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics with Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM), providing patient care and also educating and training medical students and residents. She also maintains a part-time clinical practice in OB/GYN at EUHM, providing full-scope obstetric and gynecologic care.

Betsy’s clinical and broader interests include preventative medicine, healthy living through life changes, family planning and reproductive justice advocacy, decreasing birth-associated morbidity and mortality, breast/chestfeeding, and post-partum care.

Beyond her teaching and clinical practice, Betsy is a committed advocate as a staunch supporter of access to affordable, high-quality health care for every person in Georgia. She advocates for the LGBTQIA patient population and is committed to providing care for underserved communities and high-acuity patients across Georgia. In addition, Betsy serves on the steering committee for Georgia Clinicians for Gun Safety (GC4GC), a group of concerned healthcare providers working to reduce firearm injury and death in Georgia. She also is active in reproductive justice advocacy, supporting Georgians in their right to make decisions about and for their own bodies and to live safe and healthy lives.

Betsy earned her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from University of Texas at Austin and earned her combined medical degree and master’s degree in public health with a focus on Policy and Management from Ohio State University. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Betsy currently resides in Atlanta with her wife and their two children, who attend Atlanta Public Schools.

Chris Hatcher, MBA, MHA

Mr. Chris Hatcher joined as a Board Member in 2025.

Chris is the CEO of the Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy, an innovative charter high school focused on cultivating talent in K-12 education. He also serves as President of the 4C Foundation, whose singular mission is to support the efforts of the Academy.

Prior to his current role, Chris was involved in healthcare and technology start-ups. He served as a senior healthcare consultant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and was an executive at Phoebe Putney Health System with a focus on strategy and managed care. Throughout his career, he has cultivated partnerships to develop solutions in response to challenges present within complex healthcare delivery systems.

Chris is also engaged in community and statewide leadership roles. He serves as Chair of the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission, Chair of the Georgia College and Career Academy Network, and is a member of the Hospital Authority of Dougherty County and the Albany Rotary Club.  Chris has served on the Board and the Executive Committee of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club. Chris is a founding Board member of The Launch Room, an entrepreneurial incubator in Albany, and also a founding Board member of The Jack O’Kelley Foundation, which focuses on raising awareness around the dangers of fentanyl.

Chris earned his undergraduate degree in history from the University of Georgia and his dual master of business administration and master of health administration degrees from the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. A native of Albany, Georgia, he and his wife, Margaret, reside there and have three sons: Lane, John, and Ben. In his free time, Chris loves outdoor activities and playing pickleball.

Helen Kim Hendrix, JD

Ms. Helen Kim Hendrix joined as a Board Member in 2025.

Helen is the Founding Partner of HKH Law LLC, where she counsels clients—including a number of non-profit entities—on corporate, employment and civil rights matters. As an attorney and former non-profit executive, she has over twenty-five years of legal experience focused on advocacy, equity, and community-centered leadership.

Prior to launching her law practice in 2017, Helen began her legal career with a leading Wall Street law firm and then dedicated a decade of her career as a nonprofit lawyer and executive, culminating in the founding of the first Asian American civil rights nonprofit in the Southeast, Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Atlanta (formerly AALAC) . Throughout her career, she has served as an advocate, lobbyist, and activist for immigrants and refugees. Helen recently served as a community liaison and facilitator for Gwinnett County’s 2022-2023 Comprehensive Human Service Needs Assessment and Strategic Plan, the first such assessment conducted in approximately thirty years, prior to the arrival of Asian and Latino immigrants to the United States.

Helen also remains active in her community by serving on boards of organizations she feels passionate about. She has served as the Vice Chair of Immigrant Hope – Atlanta, a board member of Mosaic (Gwinnett County’s sexual assault center), a member of the Emory University Board of Visitors, an Advisory Board member for the Alliance Theatre, the Program Co-Chair for the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, an Editorial Advisory Board member for Atlanta Magazine, Program Chair for the Gwinnett County Democratic Party, and as founding board member of the Korean American Bar Association of Georgia, among other roles.

Helen, a first-generation immigrant from South Korea, moved with her family to the U.S. at age four and grew up in Columbia, South Carolina and then Atlanta, Georgia. She lives in Atlanta with her husband Glenn and daughter Vega, and loves to travel and hike in her free time.

Natalie D. Hernandez, PhD, MPH

Dr. Natalie D. Hernandez joined as a Board Member in 2022.

Natalie is a National Institutes of Health(NIH)-funded researcher and the founding Director of the Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) Center for Maternal Health Equity. Natalie has developed multiple lines of research aimed at advancing science to eliminate women’s health inequities, specifically among Black and Latinx populations. She has laid the groundwork for research in maternal health research by establishing partnerships with local and national organizations dedicated to maternal morbidity and mortality disparities, evaluating maternal health interventions and programs, and validating effective measures of maternal mental health and medical mistrust as psychosocial factors.

Natalie currently serves on a variety of state committees including the Georgia PRAMS Steering Committee. She also serves various national organizations including the American Public Health Association Committee on Health Equity and the Health Disparities Taskforce of the National Preeclampsia Foundation. A nationally recognized leader, Natalie has presented her work at various conferences throughout the years.

Natalie earned her master’s degree in public health from Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health and earned her bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Stony Brook University in New York. Natalie earned her PhD in public health and a graduate certificate in interdisciplinary women’s health from the University of South Florida. She was also a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) maternal and child health leadership trainee, an epidemiology trainee, and a Satcher Health Leadership Institute Health Policy Post-Doctoral Scholar at MSM.

Natalie currently resides in Atlanta with her family and her passion for maternal health is deeply rooted in her role as a wife and mother to two children. Natalie and her family enjoy spending time outdoors and staying connected to the community that inspires and grounds Natalie’s work.

Kathryn Martin, PhD, MPH, MPA

Dr. Kathryn Martin joined as a Board Member in 2026.

Kathryn works at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG), where she has been for nearly 20 years. Her primary focus throughout her tenure at MCG has been the development and management of MCG’s regional campuses in different areas across the state. Kathryn first joined MCG in 2008 to help establish its Southeast Georgia regional campus in Savannah. At present, she leads MCG’s regional campus development endeavors in Albany, Thomasville, Rome, Dalton, and Atlanta. Prior to joining MCG, Kathryn served as Administrator of the Chatham County Health Department.

As a community leader, Kathryn has held multiple community leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels. She has served on several local boards, including chairing the Chatham County (Savannah) Board of Health and serving on the Savannah Mayor’s Healthy Savannah initiative. She was elected President of the Georgia Public Health Association in 2013 and serves as part of the Executive Board for Resilient Georgia. At the national level, Kathryn is the Immediate Past President of the Group on Regional Campuses for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

Kathryn’s passion for public health is rooted in her early life, having been born in Allendale County, South Carolina, one of the sickest and poorest counties in the state. Recognizing that individuals are only as healthy as our environment allows, Kathryn works tirelessly to improve the health of her community by recruiting and educating future physicians for MCG, which is the fifth-largest medical school in the country. She often notes that her greatest education has come from learning alongside her students at MCG.

A self-proclaimed “late bloomer,” Kathryn began her college education at age 40 and has since received her bachelor’s degree in sociology, her master’s degree in public health, and her doctorate in health administration. Kathryn is married to Chip Hardin, a Superior Court Judge residing over for six rural counties in Georgia. Kathryn and Chip have one daughter, two sons, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren—along with one precious furry dog-child named Little Kippa Hardin.

Laura Register

Ms. Laura Register joined as a Board Member in 2023.

Laura is a retired community activist from rural South Georgia, well regarded for her ability to bridge political and religious divides. She also is the owner of LBR Consulting, a business focused on messaging in rural counties, building consensus around issues, data-driven policy development, and civic engagement.

Engagement in critical social issues has always been a priority to Laura. She was elected to and served on the Grady County Board of Education for 13 years. She has presented on multiple panels with the University of Georgia Archway Program and the Carter Center at the United Nations and has served as a rural advisor to multiple statewide campaigns.

Laura currently resides in South Georgia, where she raises grass-fed beef and collects goats.

Christopher Reynolds, MBA

Mr. Christopher Reynolds joined as a Board Member in 2024.

Chris has more than 30 years of experience as an executive in the investment industry, and currently serves as National Sales Director, Nonprofit Market, for U.S. Bancorp Asset Management.

Throughout his career, Chris has held senior positions with Cornerstone Investment Partners, Rigel Capital, LLC, Atlanta Capital Management Company, LLC, and Barclays Global Investors. He is also an active member of many industry associations, including the Georgia Association of Public Pension Trustees, the Association of Investment Management Sales Executives, and the Southern Employee Benefits Conference.

In addition to his professional work, Chris is active in his community and has served on numerous non-profit boards including Cool Girls, Inc., Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, NFL/Youth Education Town, and The Children’s Museum of Atlanta, among others. Through his extensive nonprofit experience, he is recognized as a leader in the areas of governance, fiduciary duty, and board performance.

Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in general studies and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Houston. He also holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist, Certified Retirement Plan Fiduciary, and the Chartered Pension Professional designations.

Lizann Roberts, MA

Ms. Lizann Roberts joined as a Board Member in 2024.

Lizann has over 35 years of experience in public health leadership and has focused her career on developing public-private endeavors to improve overall community well-being. She is a seasoned leader, facilitator, and a self-proclaimed “coalition geek.”

In 2007, Lizann worked with former Mayor Otis Johnson to launch Healthy Savannah and went on to serve as the Executive Director of the Coastal Georgia Indicators Coalition, also based in Savannah. In recognition of her leadership and impact, she was named a Community STAR by the board of Savannah Technical College in 2021 and received an inaugural Community Peace Builder award alongside Mayor Van Johnson in 2022. She remained with the organization until her retirement.

Earlier on in her career, Lizann served as a faculty member at two academic institutions, created employee development and health management programs for large multi-site organizations, and designed comprehensive health improvement programs for large healthcare systems.

She earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in health education with leadership certifications from Georgetown University and The Center for Creative Leadership.

Lizann was born and raised on a family farm in southeast Georgia now resides on Isle of Hope in Chatham County with her husband, Joe, and their doodle, Adeline. She is a step-friend to five adults and seven grandchildren who all call her Lizzy. Lizann enjoys singing in the choir and serving on the vestry of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She loves spending time with her family, gardening, and fishing in Georgia’s coastal rivers in her free time.

Chetan N. Shah, MS, MBA

Mr. Chetan N. Shah (Chet) joined as a Board Member in 2023.

Chet joined Truist Bank in 2018 and currently serves as an Institutional Investment Advisor in its Truist Foundations and Endowments Specialty Practice. In this role, he provides comprehensive investment advisory, administration, planned giving, custody, trust and fiduciary services to nonprofit organizations.

He has over 17 years of investment experience, with the past 14 years focused on investing assets for institutions and high-net-worth individuals. Prior to his current position, Chet worked with Duff & Phelps’ Portfolio Valuation group, providing business valuation and intangible asset valuation for hedge funds, private equity funds, and business development companies. He also served as a Portfolio Manager at J.P. Morgan, delivering customizable investment solutions tailored to clients across the high-net-worth space.

Chet earned a master’s degree in business administration and a master of science degree in business analytics from Indiana University, and a bachelor of science degree in finance from Penn State University. Chet resides in Atlanta with his wife and three children. He feels a personal connection to the Initiative’s mission and work, as his wife recently established her own private pediatric practice, driven by her commitment to expanding access to excellent medical care for children and families.

Sean Sullivan, JD

Mr. Sean Sullivan joined as a Board Member in 2023.

Sean is a partner in Alston & Bird’s Health Care Group, where he advises healthcare providers and companies on regulatory compliance, navigating transaction structures, and resolving potential noncompliance issues, among other topics. Sean also advises private equity and other investors on regulatory risks and structuring considerations associated with investing in the healthcare industry.

Sean brings deep expertise in Georgia’s health insurance landscape, including the interplay between insurers and providers and how changes in these systems ultimately impact consumers.

A U.S. Army veteran, Sean began his legal career in the U.S. Army JAG Corps.

Robert S. Wynn, MBA, CFA

Mr. Robert S. Wynn joined as a Board Member in 2020.

Rob is Founder and President of Wynn Capital. Prior to founding Wynn Capital, he served clients as a Global Investment Specialist with J.P. Morgan in Atlanta and as a Portfolio Manager at Asset Advisors Corporation in Augusta, Georgia.

Rob graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2004 and served in the U.S. Navy as a Submarine Warfare Officer aboard the submarines USS HONOLULU in Hawaii and USS MICHIGAN in Bremerton, Washington. After completing his military service, Rob earned a master’s degree in business administration specializing in finance and accounting from New York University’s Stern School of Business. In 2015, Rob earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation.

A native of Augusta, Rob currently resides there with his wife, Katie, and their three children, Rob Jr., George, and Elizabeth. He serves on the boards of several organizations pushing for progress in Augusta including Augusta Tomorrow and the Imperial Theatre. In his spare time, Rob enjoys playing golf and soccer and traveling with his family.
